Susie A. Long, Ed.D.

CEO

Dr. Susie Long is a retired Principal, Special Educator, and Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Prince George’s County Maryland.  She is a Christian instructional leader who has served the private and public-school community as a Principal, Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, Special Education Administrator, Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Instructional Coordinator, and a General Education teacher at all grade levels.  ​

During her tenure as Principal of From the Heart Christian School, students were accepted in some of the most prestigious universities and colleges in the world.  Among them were Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Yale University, Oxford University, Fordham University, Spelman College, Howard University, and so many more.

With more than forty years in education, Dr. Long has presented and facilitated a wide range of Staff Training and Professional Development for administrators, general and special educators, and paraprofessionals in both public and non-public schools.  Topics include but are not limited to Launching and Sustaining Rigorous Curriculum Maps, Engaging and Interactive Unit and Lesson Plans, Differentiating Instruction for Advanced and Struggling Students; and Effectively Utilizing Professional Learning Communities.  Dr. Long is currently the CEO of Long Educational Consulting, LLC (LEC) located in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Ms. Christal D. Long

Instructor

Ms. Christal D. Long, a certified science teacher, hails from Prince George’s County, Maryland. She has been an educator for more than 15 years in both public (7 years) and private schools (10 years) and has a sincere love for science. Graduating from Bowie State University, Ms. Long obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology and later, a Master of Arts in Teaching.  Ms. Long recently served as a Research Teacher Captain during the 2020 Society for Science Research Teachers Conference and judged the Intel and Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fairs, held in May 2019.

She was also the first Middle College biology teacher for the Academy of Health Sciences in Prince George’s County Public Schools.  All students in her class finished with a high school diploma and an Associate Degree simultaneously.

Having extensive knowledge in the sciences, Ms. Long teaches or has taught International Baccalaureate (IB) Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, AP Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Algebra I. Currently, she is the STEM Fair Coordinator and AP Instructional Coach for From the Heart Christian School.

Ms. Long is a certified Curriculum Trak Trainer, with expertise in curriculum mapping, lesson plan development, and use of the electronic tools of the Curriculum Trak online program.  Students taught by Ms. Christal Long have won Regional Stem Fairs and achieved Grand Prize Awards that enabled them to compete in the Intel and Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fairs.

Ms. Patricia Long

Instructor

Ms. Patricia M. Long is a life-long resident of Prince George’s County, in the state of Maryland. Upon graduating from college, she immediately began her professional career at a private Christian school.  She has more than nine years of experience as a high school English, Film, and Creative Writing teacher.  She has taught AP Literature and Composition, AP Language and Composition, Film and Media, and Creative Writing courses.

Ms. P. Long graduated as Summa Cum Laude from Bowie State University with a B.A. in English and a concentration in secondary education. She is certified with the state of Maryland, having passed both the Praxis I and Praxis II exams. Ms. Long earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Film and Electronic Media from American University and used that knowledge to teach high school Film and Media courses as well.

Ms. Patricia Long is also a certified Curriculum Trak trainer, who has expertise in curriculum mapping, lesson plan development, and use of the electronic tools of the Curriculum Trak online program.

Ms. “P” Long, as she is affectionately called by the students, served as the Professional Learning Community Leader for the English middle and high school teachers for 8 years.  Within that role, she led multiple professional development trainings for English and Social Studies teachers which included, but not limited to 1) engaging students in content-rich learning experiences, 2) improving students’ analytical and critical thinking skills, and 3) integrating discipline-specific literacy into reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities.

Ms. Patricia Long also has an extensive background and knowledge in 1) writing and developing English curricula based on national and state standards, 2) utilizing curricular templates to write performance-based unit plans and lessons, 3) teaching concepts and skills identified in standards, and 4) effectively teaching engaging content for improving critical and analytical skills of students.

Ms. Kandice L. Long

Instructor

Ms. Kandice Long is a life-long resident of Prince George’s County, in the state of Maryland. As a college student, she attended Maryland Eastern Shore and Bowie State University.  Ms. Long graduated Cum Laude from Bowie State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree.  She also received Bowie’s Presidential Leadership Award for her tireless efforts in improving the quality of student affairs and future career opportunities.

Upon graduating from Bowie State, Ms. Long immediately began her professional career at From the Heart Christian School.  There she became known as Sis. “K” Long, the second sister of the Long Sister trilogy. Ms. Long has more than ten years of experience as an elementary Reading/English Language Arts (RELA) teacher and a middle and high school English teacher.

As an English teacher who has taught all grade levels, Ms. K. Long developed a love for teaching and leadership while serving in her church’s school.  She often states, “This school is a training ground, and we must be ready to enter the world as soldiers for the Lord.”  For the past six years, she has served as a professional development trainer and the Professional Learning Community (PLC) Leader for middle school.  She has also worked extensively with the elementary and high school English PLC Leaders to ensure vertical alignment of curriculum maps, engaging and interactive learning activities, and consistent academic language across grade levels.
